The  Cremation  Process

Cremation  is  the  process  of  reducing  a  body  to  brittle,  calcified  bones  through  the  use  of  intense  heat.  The  process  begins  by  placing  the  deceased  inside  of  the  cremation  chamber.  Once  inside,  the  heat  rises  to  more  than  1800°  F.  After  about  2-3  hours  the  remains  have  been  reduced  to  brittle,  calcified  bones.  They  are  then  cooled  before  being  pulverized  and  processed  into  an  ash-like  substance.

After  the  cremation  process  has  been  completed,  the  ashes  are  placed  in  a  temporary  urn  or  one  that  the  family  has  purchased.  Finally,  they  are  returned  to  the  funeral  director  who  then  delivers  the  remains  to  the  deceased’s  family.

The  Cost  of  Cremation

Families  should  always  be  mindful  of  costs  when  caring  for  a  loved  one’s  remains.  It  is  important  to  establish  a  budget  early  on  in  the  arrangement  process  and  do  your  best  to  stick  to  it.  Typically,  cremation  prices  are  about  one-third  of  the  cost  of  a  traditional  burial.

For  many  families  who  are  looking  to  honor  a  loved  one  with  a  meaningful  celebration  of  life  or  memorial  service;  choosing  cremation  allows  for  more  of  the  budget  to  be  allocated  to  other  memorialization  costs.  Coming  to  terms  with  the  death  of  a  loved  one  is  important  and  can  be  achieved  with  a  memorial  service.  Bringing  family  and  friends  together  provides  everyone  with  the  opportunity  to  share  memories  and  receive  support.

At  Gill  Brothers  Funeral  Chapels,  we  pride  ourselves  on  offering  families  affordable  cremation  services  that  do  not  sacrifice  quality  for  the  price.  Our  cremation  costs  are  fair  and  designed  to  meet  the  budgets  of  most  families.
