Obituary for Robert Clayton Nehotte

Age 89 of Mpls. Bob was raised by his grandparents, Clayton and Selma Woodruff who lived on Fillmore and Broadway in NE Mpls. He graduated in January 1948 from Edison High School. He obtained a Jr. Accounting Certificate from the Mpls Business College. He served in the Korean War from 1950 to early March 1952. Bob enjoyed singing Arirang, a Korean folk song which he learned from children while serving as a corporal in the U.S. Army in fiscal procurement in Korea. He received a degree in Painting and Graphic Design from MCAD and a BA in Business Administration from Metro State University. Bob met the love of his life, Geraldine Sullivan (Gerry) in 1954. They were married May 7, 1955. he last worked for the MN Dept of Revenue as a Multi-state Unitary Corporation Auditor and taught Chapter 9 & 11 bankruptcy classes. Bob was a lifetime member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the 5555 VFW in Richfield, MN, Chapter One of Korean Veterans, The Graybeards, and American Political Items Collectors (APIC).
Bob and his wife Gerry are remembered for their generous philanthropic contributions to various education organizations. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Edison High School in 2017. He was a proud Catholic and was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and an Oblate of St. Paul's Monastery. He was preceded in death by Gerry, his wife of 60 years and foster son, Thanh Ly. Survived by children, Susan (Stephen) Klappa, Mark Robert, Margaret Steeves, Sr. Catherine Nehotte, OSB, Michael (Gail) Nehotte, Nancy (Mark) Anderson, and Chi Ly; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, December 1st 11 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, 509 West 54th Street. Visitation Friday November 30, 2018 4-7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South and Saturday one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Paul's Monastery or Edison Community Sports Foundation.
