Lois Minderhout, 94, died on October 16, 2018 in Edina, Minnesota. Lois Lorraine Stack was born May 31, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Augusta (Shroeder) Stack. She married John Minderhout in 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They later moved to Traverse City, where they lived for 14 years, and then in 1963 to Saginaw. In 2008 she moved to Minnesota to be close to her daughter.
She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for many years and retired as a business office supervisor in 1981. She sang in the choirs of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Saginaw Choral Society. She volunteered as a tutor at the John Moore Elementary School and at the Reuben Daniels Adult Literacy Center. She also volunteered for the Saginaw Community Foundation.
She loved her yard and neighborhood and greeting neighbors as she took her dog, Oscar, on his daily walks. She enjoyed music and literature and her travels to Greece, England, France and Switzerland. She was the life of the party at family gatherings in Saginaw, Chicago, Traverse City and Minneapolis.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, John (“Junie”), who was lost in World War II; her son, John; her sister, Patricia; and her son-in-law, Jim Ragsdale. She is survived by her son, Charlie (Nicole); daughter, Mary Ragsdale; grandchildren, Alexandra Larrea (Cesar); Ben Ragsdale, Ann Ragsdale (Matias Stebbings); Catherine Ragsdale; and great-grandchildren Vicente, Juliette and Nicolas. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, October 27 at Gill Brothers Funeral Home 5801 Lyndale Ave. S. Minneapolis, with interment later at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw.
